Genesis Church,

We have some exciting news to share with you!  Beginning June 7, 2020, we will be reopening Genesis Church for Sunday morning services (9:00am & 10:45am). We are excited to meet again as we miss seeing all of you each week.  We are grateful for the technology which has allowed us to have the music and message available, but the church is so much more than these. Relationships are vital to our spiritual growth and it is our hope and prayer that during this time your longing for these have only grown stronger. Please plan on joining us for worship! Our Lord used the Apostle Paul to pen the following words to guide the church until His return "Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,  make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.  Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus" Philippians 2:1-5.

In light of this passage, we believe it prudent to practice some social distancing guidelines. We ask that you take wise precautions. If you or any member of your family are sick, we request that you do not attend services. If you have been in close contact with someone known to have COVID-19 please wait to confirm that you have not become ill. If you are a member of a compromised group—e.g., have a serious respiratory condition—we ask that you prayerfully consider whether or not you should attend. The sanctuary will be arranged so that families sit together and maintain at least six feet from other families.

We understand that social distancing has been hard and is certainly not God’s design for the Church or society and that asking you to abide by the above guidelines will be taxing. Nevertheless, for a while longer, we ask that you patiently comply with our requests. This brings us to the subject of face-masks. Unfortunately, there is strong disagreement among the “experts” as to the effectiveness and necessity of wearing face-masks. Some see it as absolutely necessary while others see it as actually being detrimental to our immune system. We ask that each family follow their conscience as to whether or not they will wear face-masks. It has been strongly suggested that they should be worn at least during the singing. Please prayerfully consider what you will do. Please consider the fears and convictions of others as we come together as a body united in Christ.

At the end of the service we will celebrate the Lord’s Table, however it will be different in order to be as safe as possible. Also, for the first few weeks, we will not serve refreshments after the service, but we invite you to bring your own beverage to church. We will also not provide childcare or children’s classes for the first few weeks. Please be aware that there will be sounds of children in the service. Be patient with one another and enjoy the little gifts that God has so graciously provided to our lives and families. Our Children’s ministry leadership will have packets similar to what we handed out on Easter to help keep kids engaged during the service.

We look forward to seeing all of you again to worship our Lord and King!

Genesis Church,

Although last week, we decided to have services, this week, in light of the growing concern of the spread of the virus, we have decided that we are going to cancel Sunday services at Genesis Church for the next month, or until our leaders give us the green light to meet again. Even though this is less than an ideal solution, we feel that it is the best decision to help prevent the virus from spreading. We also want to obey our civil leaders and their guidance during this time (Romans 13:1-7).
We are going to be presenting a video of the service on our church’s YouTube channel, which you can watch directly on YouTube. We will also have links on our website, svgenesis.org, our church app, and our church Facebook page. You can watch the service on Sunday at 10am, or you can watch it later as we will have it posted on all the sites mentioned above.

When you watch the service, do your best to treat it as a church service in your home, and not like any movie, or TV show you may watch otherwise. Being that this is a time of worship, it would be good to honor the Lord by getting ready as you might any Sunday morning (though fuzzy slippers are probably OK), singing along with our worship team, reading along in your Bible and taking notes as you might any other Sunday as well. Also, I am taking a break from the Eros series, and I will be teaching some stories about Christ as we are leading up to Easter in a month.

In addition to our regular church service, we are also offering stuff for your kids as well. Erik & Allison Larson are going to live stream their teaching time and also are putting some things together so that the kids will have some activities to further enhance the lesson. HERE is a link to the Facebook page.

If you would like to continue to give an offering to the Lord through Genesis church, again, you can mail a check, give ONLINE , or through our church app.
We also have set up a Facebook page for our church that anyone from our congregation can share ways in which they can offer help during this time. We’ve already had people offer childcare, shopping trips and more. If you have some way in which you can offer assistance to those in need at Genesis, please post that on our page, or you can let an elder or staff member know.

Finally, What would the Lord have you to do through this whole situation? Pray for God’s will to be done through this, and pray for each other (1 Tim. 2:1-4). Secondly, help others, especially your church family (Gal. 6:10), and finally, trust that the Lord is going to use all of this for a good purpose (Rom. 8:28). This is an interesting time, and we know the Lord will bring good through it all, and through his church. While video church may not be ideal, it will make us all the more excited to come back together as a family when this is all over.

God Bless

Genesis Church Family,

You’ve probably already received dozens of notifications from businesses, schools, and other organizations about what they are doing in light of the recent outbreak of COVID-19. We wanted you to know that we are also doing all that we can in order to do what is best for the church in light of all that is taking place.

First of all, we as believers do not need to panic. We know that God is fully aware of all that is taking place, and we have our refuge in him. Please be in prayer about this and for God’s grace upon our community, nation, and world as we navigate this unique situation.
Secondly, be smart about doing all you can to prevent the spread of this sickness between you and anyone else. Click HERE for a link of guidelines from the Center for Disease Control.

As of right now, we will continue to meet on Sunday mornings at our regular times until our community leaders advise otherwise. Since our capacity is under 250, we have not been instructed to cancel church. We encourage you to take whatever precautions may be necessary do what is best for yourself and your family. If you feel ill in any way, please stay home to protect others from potential sickness. Some of our groups or studies that go on during the week may or may not cancel for now, but that will be at the discretion of the group leader.

We will have some extra hand sanitizer out on Sunday, and we also request that all of our members refrain from shaking hands or hugging each other for now. We are evaluating how to offer our coffee in the most sanitary way possible, and we have also made changes on how we will be taking communion. Also, we are making extra sure that surfaces and kid’s toys are sanitized each week.

Although we will not likely be able to have our live-stream up this Sunday, we hope to have it up and running on the following week. We will let you know how to access this as soon as it is available. The audio version of the sermon, however, is always available by Sunday afternoon on our website, svgenesis.org, or on our app.
If you would like to contribute to Genesis when you are unable to attend, you can send a gift in the mail or give on our app and also our website. Finally, If any of you are in need of help in any way because of this situation, please don’t hesitate to call or email. Again, please pray for God’s deliverance in this and His blessing on those in our church at this time.

Thank you
God Bless
Pastor Brad
